Recently, men aged 16-55 across the country were asked whether a good-looking woman looks sexiest in an elegant evening dress, denim jeans and a shirt, or a sundress. At 42%, the largest segment of men prefers the sundress over the jeans look (28%) or a more formal dress (26%).

There’s something really playful and confident about a woman in a sundress,” says Peter, a 27-year-old community health educator in Portland, Oregon. “She’s not restrained–she can move freely and be comfortable. It’s festive–it shows that she wants to enjoy the day.”

From a woman’s point of view this is great! Virtually everyone looks good in a sundress. Joe Cohen, director of CottonWorks, says, “There are so many different styles out there now. A plus-size woman can wear a fuller, more fluidly cut dress, and a size-4 woman can go for a more fitted, body-conscious look.”
